- I build sound. Rich with Meaty tone & Thats why i'm called the BUTCHER.
Most people I've dealt with playing guitars or Bass guitars are all looking for Rich harmonic content. If you have lots of harmonic content to start with, you can easily use other sound shaping tools (tone controls on the amp, in particular) to sculpt your favourite and unique sound. It's a bit like giving an artist every colour he could wish for to paint a picture. If you only give him a pencil, he can still draw a great picture if he's really good, but has limited options.
- Design is the focus, not just Art but in structure and playability. I am always experimenting and ready to take on new and different projects.
- You can have an affordable Instrument without plywood, tone dampening plastic, and other cheap materials like pot metal, low grade aluminum or electronics... I use many types of wood, (some very exotic) Brass and or stainless steel for bridges, screws and other parts. Brass for example, produces the best most musical sound when used as a bridge and you cant beat the sustain.
- Is it always bad to be cheap? I like the term thrifty. when it comes to innovation i am getting good results now with Douglas fir which is a new idea that has great potential for body wood.
Reputation starts with a strong foundation
History; (I'll try and make this short.) After doing repairs freelance while living in Portland Oregon, until that one day I just decided to build a Bass for myself from scratch. Being in a working band and i wanted an instrument that was distinguishing in sound and looks, and what i found in the stores just sounded Gutless to my ears-( to put it simply).
I Moved back to my home town where my ancestors first settled & still reside since 1886,
( thats why you might hear me say "120 years later & we're still JAMMING in the same little town. 
The style changes but SPIRIT OF MUSIC never dies." ) was an easy decision with the low overhead in this small town I decided its possible to have an online business & i love my family.
This brings me to Reputation; my name means somthing to me and i am proud to put it on your Baby. ( Your Instrument that is, -cuz if i really put it on your Baby your spouse might not be happy.)
A very nice Customer left a comment for me on myspace recently & said, "this man is an ARTIST, and he cares about what you want, he even took the time to call me !!! he wanted to know my musical influences, and what sort of tones i liked and This is because he wants to Tailor your instument to you PERSONALY. I'm surprised he didnt want my arm length,and my blood type.LOL but im just saying, if you want a Fine Instrument Give Butch a call, he is a dying breed of True Craftsmen and will produce an instrument that you will most certainly be able to pass on for generations to come."
& that is my Goal.
